The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has brought about a paradigm shift in the manner in which business is conducted in many, if not all, industries. The legal profession is equally affected. Where possible, even the courts are doing away with physical hearings and replacing them with telephone hearings and video conferences.

At Ang & Tan Law Corporation, we believe in adopting, making full use of, and reaping the advantages of technology to serve our clients.

Instead of dwelling on the cliched “new normal”, we strive to build in new ways of conducting business into our modus operandi and our psyche, such that we can stop describing current norms as “new”.

For example, for clients who are comfortable with emails and VOIP telephony, we will communicate via voice and/or video calls, and hold physical meetings only when absolutely necessary. This will save the client travelling time and expenses. Documents and written communications will be conveyed via email. Of course, there will be some exceptions, such as affidavits which have to be signed in person. Clients will rarely see “postage” or “stationery” as items on their bills, as these will become remnants of the “old normal”.
